Safety and verification
Property fraud is real. These are the habits that protect you, and what we do on our side.
Pay through the platform
Agree prices in chat and pay through Authority Properties so there is a record and access to dispute support. Be wary of anyone who asks you to pay into a personal account or “off the app”.
Inspect before you confirm
Visit the property. Check it matches the photos and the listing. Your protection period exists so you can do this before money is released.
Know who you are dealing with
Every listing says if it is from the owner, an agent, a developer or a property manager. Ask an agent to show their authority from the owner.
Understand what a badge means
Badges are granted by our team after reviewing documents, and they expire. A verified property badge is not a legal title search. For land and sales, use a lawyer and a surveyor.
Be suspicious of prices that are too good
A price far below similar properties is a common sign of fraud. We flag these for review, but you should also question them.
Report anything that looks wrong
Use Report on any listing or conversation. People on our team read every report.
